SPELLebration Junior was held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Butner-Stem Middle School gymnasium. We had a total of 23 teams from the elementary schools in Granville County Public Schools. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students participated in this unique team spelling competition, and were cheered on by a full crowd of over 200 spectators! We are excited to continue bringing this student event to our schools and look forward to next year!
Congratulations to Stovall-Shaw Elementary School "Don't Stop Bee'lieving" for being the 2017 SPELLebration Junior Champions! After making it to the tie-breaking round of spelling words and being the only team to spell "encyclopedia" correctly, they were awarded the Championship trophy and a gift bag that included a $20 gift card for each team member! Team members included Bristol Bowen, Tyler Holley, and Hannah Twisdale.

SPELLebration Junior Competition Details:
SPELLebration Jr. is a spelling competition for teams of 3 students (a 3rd, 4th, & 5th grader) from each elementary school, competing as a team to write down their guess of the spelling of each word called.
Schools are responsible for determining the team members, and each elementary school can have up to two participating teams.
Words will be pulled from 3rd-5th grade curriculum.
No Registration Fee for teams
Each team will receive 2 Free Word Coupons to use for the first two words misspelled
A snack-supper will be provided to the student team members
Concessions will be available
Participants are encourages to come dressed in Halloween costumes!
Winning team will take home the SPELLebration Jr. Trophy to be displayed at their school and a reward for each individual team member
